MEET CHEF AMELIA
My fondest memory as a child was at the age of five when I begged my mom to have a birthday party. After days of begging she wouldn't give in so I went to my grandmother and asked her. My grandmother always loved to party and a big fan of birthdays so I knew I could convince her. We walked to the neighborhood corner store to buy the food, items for the cake and other essentials. While she cooked, I hand wrote all of my invitations and delivered them door-to-door to all of my friends in her neighborhood. She then helped me make all of the decorations. When my mom came to pick me up at the end of her workday we were busted! A grandmother couldn't deprive her granddaughter, and namesake, the desire to throw a birthday party! I have been in love with all things entertaining ever since.
Fast forward 25 years I found myself planning my wedding and that of my younger sister. Frustrated with the options available to us I created many of them myself. After a florist cancelled at the last minute I designed my centerpieces, programs, thank you cards and many things in between. My love for designing the perfect event was resurrected.
amelia irene design was birthed in 2008 after several years of perfecting my skills in floral design, catering, letterpress, and invitation design. I have been blessed to work with some of the best designers in the industry and have trained all over the country to bring you the best in event design. Following a divorce in 2011, I refused to let that life challenge deter me from helping others so I pressed on and brought new life to my business determined to help others celebrate life's memorable moments the good and the seemingly bad because I believe that no matter what may happen there is always a reason to celebrate!
When I am not designing or in the kitchen for my clients you will find me combing the pages of a great cookbook, spending time enjoying family and friends or testing out a recipe! Just as I always cook from scratch, your event will always be an original and made with the best ingredients (and materials) I can find. Each affair has a signature touch, a personal flair, it is a reflection of who you are interpreted by my hands. it is simply me, Amelia Irene Design.
